The Maid's Quarters
The recently renovated Maid's Quarters is fully appointed for a
comfortable stay. These quarters are housed in a separate cottage from the farmhouse, overlooking the extensive gardens.
French doors lead out into the kitchen garden and orchard, with
peaceful views of the Inverell countryside.
History of the
Maid's Quarters
The Maid's Quarters were built for the domestic staff of the Parker
family's property "Hampton Court" circa 1902.
This was one of the original dairy farms in the area. There were several occupants over the years living in the cottage. These included four Italian
Prisoners of War who were transferred to work in the dairy during the Second World War. At that time their was shortage on labour and by all accounts the men were included in the family's daily life. At the conclusion of the war they were reluctant to return to Italy. They pencilled their names on the walls before leaving.
The last people to live there were Mr & Mrs Briggs, the
gardener and his wife, in the 1950's. It was in a ruinous state when Jacquie purchased the property and in it's restoration she has endeavoured to create a relaxing atmosphere for her guests allowing them to unwind in the quiet and peaceful surrounds.
